2012年3~5月，我组成员原作强和白雪娇赴巴拿马Smithsonian热带研究所(Smithsonian tropical research institute, http://www.stri.si.edu/) 进行访问和学术交流。在交流期间，原作强和白雪娇分别以“The short dynamics of aboveground biomass in a large old-growth temperate forest plot”和“Population dynamics of two understory shrub species in old growth and young secondary forests”为主题与Helene C. Muller-Landau, Ryan Chisholm和Tania Brenes 博士进行广泛交流与合作。在Helene C. Muller-Landau和Ryan Chisholm博士的陪同下，两位登上Barro Colorado岛，参观了全球建立的第一块大型固定森林样地（BCI）。

  此次访问时基于中美基金委联合资助项目“多样性与森林动态”青年科学家互访计划。
